The Community

Mile 36 is a community of six smaller villages spread over several square miles. Most of the houses are by the new tarmac road from Freetown, the capital, to Bo, the second city.
There are over 100 houses with lots of people living in them, extended families of ten or more.
They are part of the Temne tribe who speak their own language, plus Krio, a version of Creole and, of course, English which is the first language of the country.
The people are proud of their religion, approximately 70% are Muslim and 30% Christian.
These are some pictures taken recently in our community.
